I am thrilled to welcome all of you to the 2025 academic year as we greet the blossoming spring. I extend my heartfelt welcome to our freshmen who are embarking on their academic journey, and express my deep gratitude to our esteemed faculty, dedicated staff, and proud alumni who have tirelessly contributed to the continued growth and development of Keimyung University.
Last year, as we celebrated the 125th anniversary of our founding, we reflected on our heritage to establish a new vision for our future. Throughout its long history, Keimyung University has remained steadfast in its founding philosophy of "For the Kingdom of Truth, Justice, and Love," producing outstanding people indispensable to our society. We now stand at a crucial juncture: we must build upon our past accomplishments to create a dynamic and innovative future. For the next 125 years, Keimyung University will continue to embrace change, adapt to new educational and research paradigms, and lead the way in creativity and innovation.
This year’s key objectives are to become a government-designated Glocal University and actively engage in the Regional Innovation System & Education(RISE) project in collaboration with local governments. Accordingly, we will break down academic barriers by introducing interdisciplinary educational programs to foster a more flexible learning environment. These initiatives will equip our students with the global competencies necessary to thrive both locally and internationally. Additionally, we will expand international exchange opportunities to cultivate an academic community where diverse cultures and values coexist. To this end, we will enhance our partnerships with prestigious universities worldwide while offering a wide range of international programs to help our students develop a global mindset.
The new era of AI and digital innovation demands transformation in educational methodologies. Therefore, we will accelerate our AI-driven digital educational innovation to offer a learner-centered environment, ensuring that our students gain the capabilities needed to lead the future. At the same time, our Student Success Center will assist students with academic foundation programs, multi-major opportunities, and extracurricular initiatives, enabling them to maximize their potential.
A university’s sustainable growth hinges upon its ability to support students in achieving their individual dreams. In this regard, we will continuously improve the quality of our education by ensuring that students find greater satisfaction in campus life, excel academically, and secure strong employment prospects. Notably, this year, we achieved a high student recruitment rate of 100%, surpassing both national and regional averages. For our students, we will develop innovative and practical curricula while expanding industry-academia collaborations to enhance employment opportunities so that our graduates can excel across various fields. I urge our faculty and staff to continue providing the highest level of education and support.
Despite the rapid changes of our time, Keimyung University has upheld its core values and traditions for 125 years. Moving forward, we will continue to write a new chapter in our history through bold challenges and innovations. Let us strive to lead change and contribute to society through academic inquiry and practical wisdom. Moreover, let us foster a culture where academic excellence and ethical values go hand in hand by adhering to our principle of ‘cleanliness, honesty, frugality, and convergence.’
At this very moment, we are beginning a new era for Keimyung University. Just as our predecessors built ‘today’s Keimyung’ by carving a campus out of shale rock mountains with pioneering spirit and dedication, it is now our collective responsibility to carve ‘tomorrow’s Keimyung.’ To this end, I hope each of you will give your utmost effort in your respective roles as we march toward a brighter future. In order to make our journey of change and innovation more meaningful, let us never forget our mission and Keimyung’s philosophy.
As we embark on this new academic year, I pray that God’s grace and blessings be upon all members of the Keimyung family. Always remember that each of your aspirations shapes the future of our university. May this year be filled with challenges, hope, and success.
